A.K. Aspen is a genre fiction writer and publishing professional living in New York with a deep interest in imaginative storytelling and what those stories reveal about the real world. Her writing gravitates toward speculative spaces, such as fantasy, science fiction, and the strange in-between, where worldbuilding, myth, and meaning intersect. This passion led her to complete an MLitt in Fantasy Literature at the University of Glasgow, an in-depth academic experience which informs her work and writing.

Whether she’s writing, editing, or talking through ideas on social media, Aspen’s goal is the same: to engage seriously with imaginative stories and support the people who make them.

When she’s not reading or writing, you can probably find her trying out a new board game, entertaining her two cats, or snowboarding the local mountains in upstate NY.

In 2026, Aspen decided to expand her my creative practice through a YouTube project focusing on documenting her writing life and other personal goals. There she shares her process, progress, and reflections as a speculative fiction expert. The channel is part accountability, part exploration, but mostly a space to think openly about storytelling, revision, and the long road of making meaningful work.
